Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 1, 2026

This policy covers the Virtual Targets apps (Virtual Targets: Hockey and Virtual Targets: Soccer) and the website www.ejstechnologies.com, both operated by EJS Technologies Inc., a Canadian corporation ("we", "us"). We handle personal information under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

In short: the apps analyse your camera's video on your phone, and we don't automatically receive your video, player profiles or session results. We receive information from the apps only when you choose to send it to us. The website has no cookies, analytics or ads, but our providers process limited information to run and secure it, and to let us reply when you contact us.

The Virtual Targets apps

Camera

The apps use your phone's camera to see the net and detect shots. While you play, the app analyses the camera's frames in your phone's memory as they arrive and doesn't save them. Video is saved only if you turn on session recording. A recording captures the app's screen: the camera view, the targets and results drawn over it, and the current player's name and photo. It has no sound. Recordings stay in the app on your phone unless you share or save them yourself.

Information stored on your phone

The apps keep what you enter and create in the app's storage on your phone: player profiles (a name and, if you add them, handedness, jersey number, birthday and photo), session results, settings, recordings you keep and diagnostic logs. For a profile photo, the app keeps a copy of only the picture you take or choose.

A diagnostic log is kept for each session. It records technical details such as timings, camera settings, how the shot detection performed and where the net and ball appeared in the camera image. Log and recording file names include the date and your phone's make and model. Logs don't include player names or photos.

Backups and deleting your information

Depending on your phone's settings, this information may be included in your phone's backups, such as an iCloud or Google backup. Those backups belong to your Apple or Google account and we can't access them.

Deleting a session or a player in the app deletes its information, including its photo and recordings. Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored on your phone, including diagnostic logs. Neither deletes copies in your backups or copies you have shared or saved elsewhere.

Sharing and sending us information

You can share a session, recording or diagnostic log using your phone's share sheet. It goes only where you choose, and that recipient's privacy practices apply. If you send something to us, such as a diagnostic log or recording with a support request, we receive it and use it to respond to you and investigate the problem you reported. We don't use it for unrelated purposes.

No accounts, ads or tracking

The apps have no sign-up or accounts and contain no advertising, analytics or tracking software. They don't access your location or contacts. They play sounds and spoken calls, using your phone's built-in text-to-speech, but they never use the microphone.

Purchases

If the apps offer in-app purchases, they are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We don't receive your payment details.

Children

Virtual Targets is made for players of all ages, so player profiles may describe children, including a name, birthday and photo, and recordings may show a child's name and photo. This information stays on the phone, and in its backups, unless someone chooses to share it. We receive a child's information only if a parent, guardian or player sends it to us, for example in a support email or a shared recording, and we use it only to respond. A parent or guardian can ask us to delete information about their child that we hold.

This website and contacting us

The website sets no cookies, has no sign-up forms and uses no analytics, advertising or third-party content. It is hosted on Microsoft Azure. Like any web host, Microsoft processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, to deliver the website and protect it from abuse. Our email runs on Microsoft 365. If you email us, we use your message and contact details to reply and to handle your request.

Where information is processed

Our service providers, including Microsoft, may store or process information outside Canada, for example in the United States. There it may be accessible to courts, law enforcement and national security authorities under that country's laws. We remain responsible for personal information that our service providers process on our behalf.

How long we keep information

Microsoft keeps website server logs under its own retention practices; we don't add analytics of our own. We keep emails, and any logs, recordings or other material you send us, for as long as we need them to handle your request and keep a record of it, or longer if the law requires.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, subject to legal requirements that may require or allow us to keep some of it. Write to privacy@ejstechnologies.com; if you need help making a request, tell us.

We respond within 30 days. In limited cases the law allows, we may extend this by up to 30 more days, or longer if you need the information in another format. If we do, we'll tell you within the first 30 days, with the new deadline, the reason and your right to complain to the Privacy Commissioner.

We can't see, access or delete information that is stored only on your phone. You can delete it in the app or by uninstalling it, as described above.

If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects how the apps handle your information, we'll tell you in the app's release notes too.
